Phase Doppler Anemometry

The Phase Doppler Anemometry (PDA) is considered to bean upgrade to the LDA and is capable of mapping the size distribution of solid particles and fluid droplets. The measuring volume generated by the two laser beams of the LDA system is observed by an additional PDA optical device, which detects the Phase Doppler frequency. For the application of the LDA/PDA methods the department of Energy Plant Technology maintains two separate measuring systems. The first sole 2D-LDA system includes a higher powered laser device and is stationary mounted at one of the institute's laboratories. The system of the newer generation combines a compact construction and a modular setup of both laser and detection optics via fiber cable providing for the highest flexibility in quick and efficient measuring campaigns outside the university laboratories.
