Laser- or Light Sheet Visualisation Technique

Global flow field information is provided for by the Laser - or Light Sheet Visualisation technique (LSV). This approach visualises the flow at the region of interest, which is doped by tracer particles, and records this photographically. A high performance mercury lamp or a set of halogen emitters generate the light sheet in conjunction with a proper set of optical lenses. The doping or seeding itself is performed by oil fog or soap bubbles filled with helium gas, which droplets almost ideally follow the fluid flow according to their neglectable weight. Therefor their path are interpreted as streamlines. The photo- and videorecording serve the observation and evaluation of special flow phenomena, like vortices and regions of flow stagnation.
